Visiting the practice
On your first visit, the chiropractor will take a thorough case history
and carry out a physical examination which will include orthopaedic and
neurological tests.
Xrays may be ordered if they are needed (these are obtained in the
radiographic department of a local hospital).
Once these examinations are complete, the chiropractor will carry out a
detailed analysis of how the bones, joints and muscles are working in
order to identify the specific problem and to make a diagnosis.
At this point a 'report of findings' will be given to you. We will
carefully explain all of our findings so that you will fully understand
the nature and cause of your problem. At each stage you will have the
opportunity to ask questions.
A plan of chiropractic treatment will be designed to meet your needs.
You can then decide if you wish to proceed with treatment.
One of our principles is that the patient should be fully informed with
respect to their condition and diagnosis. Communication is paramount if
the chiropractor/patient health partnership is to be successful.
Treatment consists of gently freeing stiff joints with skilled
manipulation by hand. At this practice we also use low force techniques
based on Sacro Occipital Technique. In addition, various methods are
employed to restore normal muscle function and to reduce painful muscle
spasm.
By optimising the function of the skeletal system, chiropractic aims to
remove the obstacles which hinder the body's innate ability to heal and
repair. |
